The kidneys are two bean shaped organs that are located on either side of our lower back. They act as filters that remove toxins from our blood and then cause the body to eliminate these toxins as waste through our bladder and urine. Kidneys also balance PH homeostasis and regulate electrolytes including salts.
Kidney disease affects 5 to 10 percent of the world’s population. Kidney disease involves the progressive loss of kidney function. It is believed that chronic kidney disease is triggered by certain toxins (like chemicals and heavy metals in non-organic and processed foods and excess refined sugar and salt in processed food). Refined sugar and salt are toxins. Often, type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure is accompanied by chronic kidney disease.
The holistic approach to kidney disease includes the avoidance of toxins (i.e., chemicals and heavy metals and refined sugar and refined salt in food, water and beverages, chemicals and heavy metals in body products (i.e., soap, shampoo, lotion), cleaning products, drugs and vaccines). The avoidance of toxins will put much less of a burden on the kidneys (which act to remove toxins from the body).
Avoid processed, packaged and junk foods and non-organic foods. These foods contain toxins that put pressure on the kidneys. Eat clean, organic plant-based whole foods instead. Drink pure water and herbal tea. Avoid soda, soft drinks and manufactured beverages. Avoid or greatly reduce animal based foods such as meat and dairy.
Avoid glysophate. This is a chemical that is used in weed killers. Glysophate has been shown to trigger kidney disease. Use natural and organic weed killers instead.
Detoxify chemicals and heavy metals stored in the cells of your body with natural products like parsley and cilantro tea/juice (boil water and put clumps of parsley and cilantro in the hot water and let it steep overnight), diatomaceous earth, colloidal trace minerals and dandelion root tea. Drink fresh green juices and eat a lot of green leafy vegetables including kale, spinach and arugula. Use apple cider vinegar on your salads and put apple cider vinegar in pure water and drink it. Drink a lot of pure water. All of this will help to detoxify your body. Berries also will help detoxify your body. So eat blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and strawberries.
Reduce blood sugar in your body through the plant-based diet discussed above and daily exercise. Supplements that will help to reduce blood sugar include cinnamon (especially Vietnamese cinnamon), bitter melon, alpha lipoic acid, vanadyl sulfate, chromium picolonate and gymnema sylvestre.
It is important to maintain an alkaline PH balance. Eat an alkaline diet(i.e., whole, organic plant-based diet) and drink plenty of alkaline water. Drink pure water, baking soda and fresh lemon also to help maintain an alkaline diet.
To improve the health of the kidneys, drink pure cranberry juice (without added sugar) along with beet juice and take the following supplements: milk thistle, dandelion root, burdock, rhemannia and nettles.Asparagus and kidney beans are also good for kidney health. The herb Chinese foxglove (Rhemannia glutinosa) is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine to strengthen the kidneys.
Stress is harmful to the kidneys as it floods the body with cortisol from the adrenal glands that sit on top of the kidneys. So relax, de-stress, adopt positive thinking techniques and learn how to be in the moment and in the flow. Use mindfulness techniques, meditation and deep breathing techniques to de-stress. Supplements that help with stress include magnesium, b complex vitamins, hawthorn, 5 htp, ashwagandha, dark chocolate, cocoa and valerian root. Get alt of rest and sleep/
Energy healing also helps with kidney disease. So get regular massages on your lower back and get Reiki healing on your kidneys and sacral and base chakras. Consider acupuncture.
